PSHE
Our Vision
At Redwood, we believe that PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education) equips children with the knowledge, skills and values they need to thrive in school, in their communities and throughout their lives. We aim to nurture confident, resilient and compassionate individuals who understand themselves, respect others and make positive, informed choices.
Through meaningful and engaging experiences, our pupils develop the character, emotional literacy and life skills needed to become successful learners, responsible citizens and happy, healthy individuals.
What is PSHE?
PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education) is a subject that helps children develop the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to manage their lives now and in the future.
It supports pupils to:
- Understand their emotions and mental wellbeing.
- Build positive relationships and respect differences.
- Stay safe both online and offline.
- Develop healthy lifestyles and habits.
- Understand their rights and responsibilities.
- Prepare for the opportunities and challenges of modern life.
PSHE provides children with the tools to navigate the world confidently and responsibly, helping them become active and valued members of society.
Why is PSHE Important?
PSHE is at the heart of children's personal development. It supports pupils to develop:
Confidence and Self-Esteem- Children learn to recognise their strengths, manage challenges and develop a positive sense of self.
Emotional Wellbeing- Pupils gain strategies to understand and manage their feelings, build resilience and seek support when needed.
Healthy Relationships- Children learn how to develop meaningful friendships, show empathy, communicate effectively and respect others.
Safety and Preparedness- PSHE equips pupils with the knowledge to make safe choices, understand risk and navigate the increasingly complex digital world.
Life-Long Skills- Through PSHE, pupils develop essential skills such as decision-making, problem-solving, teamwork and financial awareness that will support them throughout their lives.
